YouTube released a clip celebrating all that was viral and shareable on the video-sharing service in 2016.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson kicks off the over six-minute video, which features a montage of all the biggest viral videos of the year, including “Carpool Karaoke” with James Corden and Adele and the “Pineapple Pen” song.
Also in the clip are the YouTube personalities who have made an impact on the service—coincidentally, these are usually the YouTubers with the most views per channel.
YouTuber Pewdiepie topped the list, with over 49 million subscribers and an average of over 4 million views per video, he is the most watched personality on the video-sharing service.
Trending events included the recent Pokemon Go craze and the Mannequin Challenge. The Bottle Flip makes an appearance and there is even the Running Man Challenge from earlier in 2016 (gosh, that seems like so long ago). Also the “sitting Drakes,” “Damn, Daniel,” and “dabbing” memes also get spotlighted.
There are also a few cameo appearances by comedian Trevor Noah, Seth Meyers and The Chainsmokers, singing their viral smash “Closer.”
