​A report in the “Financial Times” this week signals YouTube‘s eventual plan to turn to paid subscriptions is closer than we think. Expected to announce the plan as soon as this week, YouTube is supposedly looking at a la carte subscription plans (similar to what many consumers have been pushing for with cable).

The monthly subscription fees would be competitive, between $1.99-$5 per month for 50 channels, and could affect potential budget-conscience cord cutters.
