The CW is expanding on its success of last year with this years upfront pitch - adding more DC Comics and a new comedy buddy for its hit Jane the Virgin.

Monday nights will become a comedy block for its Golden Globe-winning Jane the Virgin, starting with new series Crazy Ex Girlfriend, a show originally meant for Showtime. Rachel Bloom stars as an ambitious lawyer who suddenly gives up everything in a desperate search for adventure.

Learning from its success with Arrow and The Flash, The CW is adding a spinoff of the spinoffs with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. For producer Greg Berlanti, that brings his series count to three on this network alone (later this year, the writer/producer/director will have six series total on broadcast networks).

The superhero series gathers together characters from the Arrow and Flash universe, starring Brandon Routh from Arrow. The DC series is slated to begin with its midseason schedule.

Showrunner Julie Plec will own Thursday nights with a back-to-back vampire block of The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff The Originals. Her upcoming third series, Containment, is set to premiere midseason.

Older-skewing historical drama Reign will move to Fridays this year, partly, according to CW President Mark Pedowitz, in order to avoid the ABC TGIT competition.
