At its Upfront presentation Thursday, USA unveiled plans to air repeats of ABC’s “Modern Family” with the same zest and zeal it would give to one of its own shows.

Competing with the likes of TBS, which has bolstered its comedy lineup with repeats of “The Big Bang Theory,” USA will lean heavily on “Modern Family” during the 2013-2014 season, as both a ratings driver and a way to promote its own new, original comedies, including Denis Leary and Bob Fisher’s “Sirens” and Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Claire’s “Playing House.” At the Upfront, the cast of “Modern” appeared in an exclusive video, speculating on all the things the show might do now that it’s on cable (cursing and propositioning delivery boys both ranked highly).

The network also announced several new dramas as well as an intriguing “Characters Unite” campaign in which it will team up with the NFL to help kids dealing with bullying.
