Cable network Up is taking advantage of its acquired series, Gilmore Girls, on the news that Netflix is in the works on a revival.
On Sunday, Oct. 25, Up will air an all-day marathon of the show, starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bleidel, starting at 10 a.m. The event, which Up is calling GilMORE Girls, will also offer fans pop-up trivla.
Up airs the show in stacked episodes in primetime Monday through Friday. It also supports the series with a social media campaign and on-air spots featuring the Gilmore Guys, Kevin T. Porter and Demi Adejuyigbe, who host a podcast commenting on the series. Up has licensing rights to all 153 episodes of the series, which aired for 7 seasons on The WB, now The CW.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Netflix was reviving the show in what are likely to be four 90-minute episodes.
Gilmore Girls stars Lauren Graham (Parenthood), Alexis Bledel (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly, Spy, Bridesmaids). The one-hour drama was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Roseanne), who serves as executive producer with Gavin Polone (Stir of Echoes, Drop Dead Gorgeous) and Daniel Palladino (Roseanne).
Up acquired the series from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.
