The 31st season of TNT’s six-week coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series begins June 9, but the Turner Sports station is adding a new twist, one it apparently learned from HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”

TNT said it would provide fans with an “all-access pass” to include behind-the-scenes content featuring a select driver and their team (one per week), special “off the track” segments and audio and video from select crew chiefs and teams during each race telecast.

The all-access coverage beings with the “Party in the Poconos 400” at Pocono Raceway, when TNT will follow Denny Hamlin and his team over the course of the entire week as they travel and prepare for the upcoming race. Featured drivers for the remainder of the series are scheduled to include Brad Keselowski (Michigan), Juan Pablo Montoya (Sonoma) and Kurt Busch (Kentucky). The all-access pieces will air weekly during the pre-race “Countdown to Green Presented by Kelley Blue Book” show.

According to Craig Barry, SVP of production and executive creative director for Turner Sports, “These deeper layers of access will provide fans with a look under the hood to some of the great personalities and teams in the sport and the level of teamwork and commitment it takes to be successful.”
