Fans of True Detective can catch a sneak peek of season three on the big screen a month before the television premiere.
HBO teamed up with Alamo Drafthouse to show the first two episodes at 18 theaters around the country. The one-night only on December 18 comes weeks before the show debuts January 13 on HBO. The screening is free with the purchase of a $5 for a food and beverage voucher, available at drafthouse.com.
The new season tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.
Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) stars as Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas investigating the disappearance of two children and who—like Matthew McConaughey in the show’s critically acclaimed season one—is haunted by a past case.
Mamie Gummer, Stephen Dorff and Carmen Ejogo also star this season, which is directed by Daniel Sackheim and created by Nic Pizzolatto.
