Tribune Broadcasting promoted Marshall Hites to SVP, Marketing and Creative Services on Tuesday, effective immediately.

In his new role, Hites will oversee Creative Services at all 42 owned or operated Tribune stations in the U.S. He will report to Larry Wert, Tribune’s President/Broadcast Media, and work from the company’s Group Creative Facility in Los Angeles, where he lives.

Hites had been serving as VP, Creative Services and Marketing at Tribune, where he was responsible for the creative oversight of KTLA in Los Angeles, as well as the 23 stations the company originally owned before their purchase of Local TV in 2013.

Tribune says he will remain involved in marketing at KTLA in Los Angeles, working with President and GM Don Corsini.

“Marshall has been an outstanding creative leader and television executive for KTLA and the Tribune Stations previously under his purview,” said Wert. “Now that Tribune’s broadcast group has increased in size, we are looking forward to the oversight and expertise he will bring to the station group as a whole.”

Hites arrived at Tribune in 2011, after previously filling creative roles at KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles, WFTV Orlando, WFLA Tampa, KMOL San Antonio, WJKS Jacksonville, and WJBF Augusta.

He has won numerous PromaxBDA Awards, including the Brand Builder Awards.

Brief Take: Tribune is opting for a familiar face to lead the marketing and creative services efforts of its greatly expanded broadcast group.
