​According to a study conducted by The Diffusion Group, Internet-connected TV owners are about twice as likely to consider getting rid of their pay-TV services than those without smart TVs.

The study found that about 7% identified themselves as possible cord cutters, saying that they are highly likely to cancel their cable bill in the next six months. Almost 9% of connected-TV users said the same about themselves—compared to only 3.5% of respondents without smart TVs.

Brief Take: While the numbers may look small, they are certainly growing. It’s important to know who you’re marketing to, and if you’re pushing a new Internet TV service, smart TV owners are the group to talk to. On the same note, cable companies out there now have a new demographic of people to pull back into the cable world and try to cut down on the cord cutters.
