Shapeshifting spirits stalk a Japanese internment camp in season two of AMC’s anthology series, The Terror: Infamy.

After season one took place on a 19th-century British ship on the Northwest Passage, season two shifts to World War II, focusing on a series of bizarre deaths within a Japanese American community and one man’s journey to combat the malevolent entity responsible, AMC says.

AMC also notes that the series features “a cast and crew with deep-rooted connections to WWII, the internment of Japanese Americans and the aftermath in Hiroshima.” It stars Derek Mio, Kiki Sukezane, Cristina Rodlo, Shingo Usami, Naoko Mori, Miki Ishikawa and George Takei, who also serves as a consultant.

The Terror: Infamy is co-created and executive produced by showrunner Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island). It premieres Aug. 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
