Founder of The Webby Awards and advocate of “cloudsourced” filmmaking, Tiffany Shlain, spoke at The Conference 2014 on Wednesday afternoon about the importance of virtual collaboration and attention to technology, as well as on how to take a break from all those second screens and social media.
In her session, “Head in the Cloud: How Collaboration is Reshaping Creativity,” Shlain shared some her work, including “Connected: An Autoblogography about Love, Death & Technology.” She also discussed her Web series called “The Future Starts Here”, which features the Technology Shabbat, her practice of turning off screens with her family for one day per week in order to appreciate face-to-face connections instead of those of the screen-to-screen variety. Check out one of the episodes via AOL On here: “Episode 1: Technology Shabbat.”
