The CW is kicking off its summer break early, announcing a lineup that starts with CW Seed’s “Backpackers” and a new reality series from TMZ, “Famous in 12.”

“Backpackers” was originally made for the network’s digital studio CW Seed, but is getting its broadcast premiere on July as a half-hour comedy. Its original trailer is below:

“Famous in 12” is a new reality series for The CW that also bills itself as a social experiment. It follows a fame-seeking family over a 12-week period with the help of TMZ and other experts trying to lead them down the road to celebrity, a la the Kardashians.

New comedy “Seed,” about a sperm-donating bartender trying to help couples start their families, heads to the lineup on July 14. Later, The CW will offer two magic-related series: “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” which invites magicians to try to beat the magic duo at their own tricks, and “Masters of Illusion,” a Dean Cain-hosted series featuring illusionists’ best tricks. Returning to the schedule is “Beauty and the Beast” in June.
