Once again, The CW has dismissed the traditional broadcast premiere week in favor of a later week of debuts, this time waiting until Oct. 6 to lead its fall season off with The Flash.

By avoiding premiere week, The CW also manages to miss the crowded world of comic book and superhero series hitting TV this fall on its rival networks. This fall sees The Flash and Arrow returning to The CW, with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to join later on.

The network’s fall schedule is bookended by two of its most successful launches in The CW history, starting off with The Flash on Oct. 6, ending with the season premiere of Jane the Virgin on Oct. 19. New series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will be Jane’s lead-in.

Thursday nights will continue to belong to showrunner Julie Plec with The Vampire Diaries followed by its spinoff The Originals.
