Thursday’s Premios Tu Mundo Awards on Telemundo aim to take over the social sphere all week, and they’re turning to Vine, zeebox, Instagram and even “People en Español” to do it.
Vine and zeebox are teaming up to give viewers an all-around experience with the show, with polls and voting as well as extra content from the show and from award winners.
A “People en Español” Vine Booth will provide brief (six-seconds brief) interviews with award winners on the “Blue Carpet.” Telemundo also plans to use Vine to announce the winner of its “Más Social” award during the show. MTV VMAs announced this week they will also use Vine, for users vote on award nominees. Premios Tu Mundo fans can also use Twitter to submit celebrity interview questions or vote for their “Favorito de la Noche” award, which will honor someone according to tweets during the show.
Instagram will be used for a special confessional booth featured during the show’s rehearsals, where award nominees and performers can answer fan-submitted questions via Instagram video.
“This primetime TV special, Premios Tu Mundo, evolved from a digital experiment only 2 years ago,” said Peter Blacker, EVP of digital media and emerging business, in a statement. “It is exciting to see how we have been able to continue the pioneering spirit of the show for both our audience and advertisers by delivering a truly innovative Social TV experience.”
Brief Take: By providing more digital outlets for viewers, Telemundo is creating lasting partnerships as well as encouraging more avenues of engagement for those watching the telecast.
