Idris Elba’s Luther is returning with a two-part special this week, reprising the role of Detective John Luther who is pulled back for one last case.

Elba, who won a Golden Globe for his role, announced the show’s brief return last year along with the show’s creator Neil Cross, who said: “Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.”

According to the BBC, the episodes follow Luther as he is “pulled back to duty to investigate the crimes of a gruesome killer,” when he “finds himself haunted by ghosts from his past.”

The first of two episodes premiered on BBC One in the U.K. on Dec. 15, with episode two to follow on Dec. 22. The first part of the special airs in the states on BBC America on Thursday, Dec. 17.

So before fans re-enter the world of John Luther, take a look at these “ghosts from his past” one last time.
