HBO is heading back to Westeros on April 12, a place of triumph and (more often) tragedy.
The whole network is getting excited about it - HBO’s comedy Silicon Valley is even hosting a series called Chattin’ Thrones, where the show’s stars discuss moments from the show:
The show open has also made its mark in the industry, presenting a beautiful living map of the fictional world:
Game of Thrones sees many characters come and go, with large family trees and complicated stories of revenge. Before season five debuts, let’s take a look at some of the show’s past seasons and how they have shaped the Game of Thrones world now.
Season 1: The Raven marks Game of Thrones’ first few seasons on HBO, with the tagline that has become part of the zeitgeist, “Winter is Coming.”
Throughout the first season’s campaign, viewers also got a glimpse at the notorious Iron Throne:
Season 2: For the second season, HBO asked viewers to pledge their allegiance to one of the many houses in Game of Thrones. Do you characterize yourself as a Targaryen?
Season 3: Season three continued the show’s tradition of teases using very little footage, if any, with an ominous voice over from one of the Game of Thrones characters.
Season 4: Now, with the tagline “All Men Must Die,” it is a battle among the many houses, but we begin to hear from Joffrey and Daenerys, with a renewed focus on the dragons.
Season 5: Ready your viewing parties for season five, premiering Sunday, April 12 on HBO.
