In a first for the new Twitter video feature, pay-cabler Starz is planning on premiering the entire first episode of its new summer crime drama “Power” a full week before its TV kick-off date.

The plan is to send out a tweet at midnight on Saturday, May 31 with a video of the episode. Today, the network hyped the strategy by tweeting out a 5-minute tease of the show’s opening scene:

Exec produced by Curtis “50 Cent"Jackson, follows a club owner that also has dangerous ties to the New York drug scene. The 60-minute premiere episode will be available to view on Starz.com, the Starz Play app and its other social sites after the tweet goes out at midnight on Saturday.

“Power” is part of a heavy originals lineup this summer for Starz that includes the season finale of “Da Vinci’s Demons” in May and the novel adaptation “Outlander,” premiering Aug. 9.

“Power” will debut on-air on Starz June 7.

Brief Take: While this isn’t the first time a TV episode has been posted on Twitter, and certainly isn’t the first time a social site was used to push out a new premiere, this will mark the first use of the Twitter in-video feature for a TV debut episode.
