PromaxBDA is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and 2016 also marks the organization’s foray—or perhaps more appropriately, plunge—into the realm of live-event social media interaction and engagement.
“This is the most social media PromaxBDA has ever done at a conference,” said PromaxBDA Social Media Coordinator Kristin Craik, who joined the company in February in the newly created role.
One of her main goals was to bring social media into the fold of the annual conference as a way to add a layer of engagement that builds on existing content, and encourages attendees to share in the experience together.
“Social media is so important for reaching your audience while they’re at an event” Craik said.
She also plans to use social media interactions to gather feedback and gage what people enjoy the most, or could do without, to help when it comes to planning content for future conferences.
“Everyone is on social now—all the time,” Craik said. “To not have that included when speaking to marketers—you’re behind the times. Our audience would be on social with us, or without us, so we’d rather it be with us”
On that note, here are six ways members can engage with PromaxBDA and other attendees during the conference.
Follow Social Media Posts on the Big Screen
Sponsored by CNN

Keep tabs on everything conference-related happening on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram by taking a peek (or a long, continuous stare) at the large screen in the Rhinelander or on the screens in the ballroom. All social media posts using the #PromaxBDA hashtag will auto-post to the social activation wall for all to see. Use it wisely, and by all means, incessantly.
When and Where
Between Monday, June 13 - Thursday, June 16 in Rhinelander, and on smaller screens throughout the main ballroom.

Get Instagram Prints at your Fingertips
Sponsored by DIRECTV

It’s simply not enough to see a blown up digital image of your latest Instagram post. PromaxBDA has teamed up with Luster to score four Hashtag Printers that will generate a glossy photo of every #PromaxBDA post through the social platform. “The Luster Hashtag Printers give out that little take-home,” Craik said.
If creating a whole conference photo album is not on your to-do list, sit back as the images print away, and look for your memories later as they are incorporated into an event mosaic created specifically for PromaxBDA’s 60th anniversary.
When and Where
Four printers will be located in Rhinelander from Tuesday, June 14 - Thursday, June 16, and at the Opening Night Party on Tuesday, June 14 from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. at Pier 36.
Watch Live-Streams on Periscope
Be sure to check out the PromaxBDA Periscope feed for live coverage of many conference sessions, along with behind-the-scenes interviews with some the top speakers and talent.
“This is the first year we’ve ever done a live stream,” Craik said. “Members who watch the stream will get some incredible content.”
Craik said she’s especially excited to hear what’s on the minds of Kevin Smith and Andy Signore during their Green Room exclusive Periscope interview.
When and Where
Sessions and coverage TBD. Please check Periscope regularly during the conference.

Take a Pic with the Twitter Mirror

Conference attendees will be able to get their hands on the highly-coveted Twitter Mirror, often reserved for Red Carpet events like the Grammys. “The Twitter Mirror is such a new and exciting activation,” Craik said. “Now our members get to have fun and try out this new technology, usually reserved only for the VIP.”
When and Where
Handheld and stationary mirrors will be circulating during the Opening Night Party on Tuesday, June 14 from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. at Pier 36; the Open Doors Happy Hour on Wednesday, June 15 from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the New York Hilton Midtown; and at the Pre-Awards Cocktail Reception on Thursday, June 16 from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the 3rd floor grand ballroom foyer.
Play Around with Snapchat Geofilters

As you dash from conference sessions to cocktail hours; from the award ceremony to the after party, it’s a great time to tune into the exclusive PromaxBDA Snapchat geofilters designed especially for this event.
When and Where
Three different filters will be available for the overall conference, the award ceremony and the opening night party. Snap away!
Follow the PromaxBDA Award Statue’s NYC Journey

PromaxBDA is flying a long way from Los Angeles to NYC, with the award statue in tow, of course, and is documenting the journey on Instagram.
From hanging out at Central Perk on the Friend’s set in the Warner Brothers lot, to hopping a plane to explore the Big Apple, it’s quite the experience to get “this fine piece of gold”—as comic and awards ceremony host Loni Love would say—from its California warehouse and into the hands of some of the best television and digital marketers in the biz.
When and Where
Currently underway on Instagram using the hashtag #followthestatue.
