Fox presented the season debut of The Simpsons on Sunday night, which earned plenty of buzz after it killed off one of its characters, but another piece of social conversation followed about its futuristic couch gag.

Oscar-nominated animator Don Hertzfeldt created the couch gag, which begins with Homer sitting down to the TV, but pushes the animated family far into the future, imagining what it would look like when the show is on episode 164,775.7. Simple animations portray Lisa repeatedly yelling “I am Simpson” and geometric shapes of each family member floating through space.
