Herschel Greenbaum (Seth Rogen) and his wife, Sarah (Succession’s Sarah Snook) immigrate to New York City in 1920 from Eastern Europe in search of finding a better life, but all of those dreams come to a halt when Greenbaum falls into a vat of pickle brine at work.

100 years later, Greenbaum emerges from the brine perfectly preserved but the world around him has changed dramatically. He seeks out his great-grandson, Ben Greenbaum (Rogen), and starts to live his life again. Both men soon find out that they have a lot to learn from each other.

An American Pickle is based on the 2013 New Yorker series, Sell Out, by Simon Rich who also adapted the story. Brandon Trost, who served as cinematographer on Rogen’s previous films This is the End, Neighbors and The Interview, directs. Rogen, his production partner Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver produce for Point Grey. Executive producers are Rich along with Point Grey’s Alex McAfee and Ted Gidlow.
