​The Weather Channel has tapped Scot Safon, previously the head of HLN, as its new EVP and CMO.

As of Sept. 30, Safon will be responsible for The Weather Channel branding, including marketing strategy, design and creative for the network. He will also work with The Weather Company to maintain brand consistency.

He was previously head of HLN, and before that was EVP and CMO of CNN, heading up communication across all CNN brands.

Safon will report to David Clark, president of The Weather Channel network, and will be based out of the network’s Atlanta’s headquarters.
