Sarah Jessica Parker often explored the start of relationships in Sex in the City, and 12 years later she returns to HBO for a series that focuses on the end.

In Divorce, Parker, who also serves as an executive producer, stars alongside Thomas Haden Church as a couple who have been married for a decade and have two kids. Frances (Parker) reevaluates her life with Robert (Church) and files for divorce, but soon realizes a fresh start is harder that it sounds.

HBO’s latest promo “Bad Connection” shows some of the more awkward phone conversations that stem from the change in relationship status.

The series also stars Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam, Tracy Letts, Sterling Jerins and Charlie Kilgore.

In addition to Parker, executive producers include Paul Simms (Girls), Sharon Horgan—who also serves as creator—Alison Benson and Aaron Kaplan.

Divorce premieres October 9 at 10 p.m.
