High school politics reaches new heights when Netflix’s new comedy, The Politician, premieres Sept. 27.

The series follows a wealthy high school student (Ben Platt) who does whatever it takes—like enlisting a cancer patient as his running mate—to win his student body’s presidential election.

“You see, gentlemen, I’m going to be president of the United States,” Platt’s character declares in the trailer. “I’m merely stating a fact: I will be president someday.”

The Politician is an anthology series with each season focusing on a different political race. In addition to Platt, this season also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan—the trio behind Fox’s Glee and Scream Queens—are creators of the series, which marks Murphy’s first original series in a multi-year deal with the streaming service.
