As the landscape of entertainment marketing and design continues to shift, global association Promax is recognizing four new categories for the 2020 Europe Awards.

The new categories originate from Promax’s Global Excellence competition, which honors the best work in all categories from around the world. This year, the entertainment marketing association added the new categories to its Europe competition after identifying their popularity and newfound importance in the area.

Brand Image Promo focuses on the promotion of a network, channel, station or content platform to viewers. In 2019, CNN took home the top prize with this 90-second, attention-grabbing spot.

I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying! comprises any video-based promotion that’s a real tearjerker. Last year, National Geographic Partners took home the gold with a heartwarming story about a young woman with cerebral palsy.

Best Direction recognizes superior directing skills and execution of mise-en-scène, including direction of actors, camera setups and oversight of production. HBO Europe’s dynamic, black-and-white spot garnered a win in this category in 2019.

Meanwhile, Fox Networks Group won Best Promo for Branded Content during last year’s Global Excellence competition. The category focuses on a single video designed to effectively and organically embed a consumer brand into a content promotional message, creating a compelling and synergistic story.

Submissions for the 2020 Promax Europe Awards are being accepted through Friday, Jan. 10. Winners will be revealed at Teatro Goya in Madrid, Spain on March 17.
