Seattle-based creative studio Plains of Yonder is back with a new title sequence for HBO’s satirical drama The White Lotus.

In its first season, the anthology series was set at a five-star resort in Maui and Plains of Yonder’s main titles reflected that setting, with tropical wallpaper that slyly showed signs of decay to viewers who looked closely.

This season, the show has relocated to gorgeous Sicily, and the main titles – accompanied by Emmy-winning composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer’s refreshed theme – feature classic Italian art in its frescoes. Again, those who pay attention see that all is not as pure and lovely as it first seems.

As Plains of Yonder describes on its website: “A series of richly detailed, awe-inspiring frescoes hold endless stories of romance, carnal lust, very lonely hearts and potential doom. Themes and storylines are everywhere within these walls; sometimes humorous, sometimes profane, sometimes tragic … always beautiful.”

Besides season one of The White Lotus, Plains of Yonder has also created the main titles for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Starz’ Gaslit.

The Emmy-winning The White Lotus – written, directed and executive produced by Mike White – airs Sunday nights on HBO.
