When passenger flight 716 mysteriously vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean, investigator Howard Lawson (Christopher Plummer) is brought on board, and he persuades his brilliant mentee, Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi) to return to work to help him in Peacock’s new six-episode event series, Departure.

But Malley’s husband has just died and she’s been left to raise their child alone, making her unsure she’s up to the task. Soon, however, she gets caught up in the case, realizing it’s more complicated than she could have ever imagined.

Besides Panjabi and Plummer, the series also stars Kris Holden-Reid, Rebecca Liddiard, Tamara Duarte, Mark Rendall, Peter Mensah and Sasha Roiz.

The event series is originally produced in association with Starlings Television and Corus Entertainment, produced by Canada’s Shaftesbury and the UK’s Greenpoint Productions Ltd.

Departure premieres on NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock, on Thursday, Sept. 17.
