Paul Buccieri has left his role at ITV Studios to take a top spot at A+E Networks, The Hollywood Reporter reported Tuesday.

He was previously chairman of ITV Studios’ U.S. Group based in LA, and served as Fox’s president of programming before that. As president of A&E and History, Buccieri will report to A+E Networks CEO Nancy Dubuc, most likely starting early 2015, when he will also versee A&E GM David McKillop and History GM Dirk Hoogstra.

“Paul and I have a longstanding professional relationship going back to our early programming days on some of A&E’s biggest hits,” said Dubuc. “I could not be more excited that he is joining the A+E Networks family. Paul is one of those unique executives who brings both strong leadership skills and business acumen to the creative process. He is also a brilliant strategist. As the media landscape continues to evolve, Paul will be looking at the future of our powerful brands with a macro vision.”

At ITV, Buccieri oversaw several production companies acquired by the company, including the producer of A&E’s Duck Dynasty.

Brief Take: Changes at A+E, including Abbe Raven’s exit from the company, point to the growth and vital role cable channel groups like A+E have in the changing TV marketplace. Buccieri’s experience with ITV’s production houses and distribution knowledge will serve the media company well with so many changes at the top.
