Going from “Live Out Loud” to “Very Real,” NBCU’s female-skewing cable net, Oxygen, launches its rebrand next month with a new logo, new tagline and a slate of original programming including five new series.
Oxygen’s rebrand will launch Oct. 7 to coincide with its new programming, with series The Investment Club, The Prancing Elite Project, The Wilkersons, Finding My Father (all working titles) and a Preachers of LA spinoff, Preachers of Detroit. The Prancing Elite Project follows an all-male competitive dance team and The Wilkersons plays on the new fame of Pastor Rich Wilkerson, who married Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in Italy.
These new shows join the lineup of already-announced unscripted originals that include reality show Nail’d It, My Crazy Love, Fix My Choir, Street Art Throwdown, Funny Girls, Living Different, It Takes A Sister and After Happily Ever After.
The rebrand was initially announced at the upfronts in April, when Oxygen stated its goal to bring in younger viewers and focus on more original series for the network this year. The rebrand to “Very Real” aims to target “young, modern women,” and with the new direction also comes a new head of programming. Oxygen’s Rod Aissa was promoted to EVP of original programming and development today as part of the rebrand announcement, moving to oversee the network’s original series as well as implementing the new branding.
“Oxygen is committed to delivering more authentic originals geared to young, multicultural women,” said Aissa. “These vibrant series reinforce the network’s new programming direction as we continue to shape the future of Oxygen.”
