Bicoastal editorial and finishing boutique Northern Lights has named Jody Peters executive producer while Derek Barbanti has been promoted to creative director at Northern Lights Agency.

In her new role, Peters will oversee all post-production and creative teams across all of the agency’s locations. Prior to Northern Lights, Jody was at Harbor Picture Company where she oversaw commercial color and finishing after spending more than a decade leading teams at Humble, Postal, Chimney and Method.

“What first attracted me to the Northern Lights family was the work itself. As I looked deeper it was also the incredible creative talent, who are all genuinely good people to work with,” said Peters in a statement.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jody to the NL Family,” says Northern Lights Family Partner and Creative Director David Gioiella, also in a statement. “She’s got exactly what it takes to bring our entire team to the next level.”

In his new position, Barbanti will lead Northern Lights Agency’s sports marketing team, while continuing to oversee projects across the agency’s spectrum of clients.

At Northern Lights Agency, Barbanti has led campaigns for clients including HBO, Amazon, NBC, USA, TBS and Showtime including promoting the Olympics and the top boxing pay-per-view event of all time: Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Prior to that, Derek earned two Sports Emmys while working at Showtime, where he focused on writing, producing and directing content and trailers for original series and documentaries.

“Marketing live sports is all about relevant and emotional storytelling—- at an incredibly fast pace,” said Barbanti. “We’re often creating more with less—which is a super opportunity for creative ideas.”

Barbanti’s recent work includes partnering with Paramount Plus to promote the UEFA Champions League.

“Derek’s deep passion and expertise in sports enables us to engage not only casual fans and fanatics alike, but also non-sports fans through his incredible storytelling,” said Executive Creative Director Joe Nichols.

Northern Lights, which handles editorial and post, is one of five companies under the Northern Lights Family umbrella alongside Bodega for production, Mr Wonderful for branding and design, SuperExploder for sound, and Northern Lights Agency for entertainment marketing.
