Things are looking pretty dire in the trailer for the second half of Netflix’s Stranger Things 4 with Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) warning Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) that “your friends are not prepared for this fight. Hawkins will fall.”

“My friends need me,” she says.

“You’re not ready,” he responds, as the trailer swells to Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” which this season of Stranger Things has put back on playlists nationwide.

In part one of season four, fans learned that the Vecla (Jamie Campbell Bower) was formerly Henry Creel, also known as One, the first kid to be trapped in Dr. Brenner’s lab as part of an experiment on children with psychic powers. Eleven potentially created the Upside Down as a way to contain One when he got dangerously out of control and slaughtered almost everyone working at the lab. Now he’s out to get his revenge.

Meanwhile, Eleven’s friends are preparing to fight the Vecla with Steve (Joe Keery), Eddie (Joe Quinn), Natalie (Natalia Dyer), Robin (Maya Hawke) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) headed to the Upside Down under Creel’s now abandoned family home and Max (Sadie Sink), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Erica (Priah Ferguson) staying above to communicate with them.

“I have this terrible feeling,” says Robin to Steve. “It may not work out for us this time.”

“It is over, now I just want you to watch,” the Vecla taunts Eleven. “Your friends have lost.”

The second half of season four of Stranger Things – composed of two very long episodes – drops July 1 on Netflix.
