Fans have been clamoring for it and on Monday, Netflix awarded them their wish by renewing its reimagining of Norman Lear’s classic, One Day at a Time, for a third season. The series, about a Cuban-American family, will come back next year with 13 episodes, the streamer said Monday.

The remake isn’t much like the original — instead of Bonnie Franklin raising two teenage daughters (Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli), it’s Justina Machado, starring as military vet and single mom Penelope Alvarez, who is raising two children. She’s not alone though — she’s got the not-always-welcome help help of her old-school mother (Rita Moreno) and her building-manager-turned-confidant (Todd Grinnell).

The series is executive produced by Norman Lear along with co-creators and co-showrunners Gloria Calderón Kellett and Mike Royce as well as Michael Garcia and Brent Miller. It’s produced by Sony Pictures Television.
