Bozoma Saint John has been named chief marketing officer at Netflix, succeeding Jackie Lee-Joe, who joined the streaming service from BBC Studios a year ago.

“Bozoma Saint John is an exceptional marketer who understands how to drive conversations around popular culture better than almost anyone,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, in a statement. “As we bring more great stories to our members around the world, she’ll define and lead our next exciting phase of creativity and connection with consumers.”

“I’m thrilled to join Netflix, especially at a time when storytelling is critical to our global, societal well-being,” said Saint John, also in a statement. “I feel honored to contribute my experience to an already dynamic legacy, and to continue driving engagement in the future.”

Saint John comes to Netflix from Endeavor, where she served as CMO since 2018

During her 20-year career, she also has served as chief brand officer at Uber, head of consumer marketing for Apple Music and iTunes and head of music and entertainment marketing group at Pepsi-Cola North America.

Saint John will be tasked with keeping Netflix front of mind for consumers in an increasingly crowded marketplace of streaming content that includes such deep-pocketed new entrants as HBO Max and Peacock as well as Disney+ and Apple TV+.

Netflix has nearly 183 million subscribers worldwide, with 70 million of those in North America.
