Netflix and HBO are once again topping the TV awards charts.
The Screen Actors Guild announced nominations for its 22nd annual awards competition on Wednesday morning, putting Netflix, HBO and Showtime at the top of its list for television.
Netflix won the TV battle with eight total nominations, notably for Bill Murray’s performance in A Very Murray Christmas, Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in House of Cards, Uzo Aduba in Orange is the New Black and Ellie Kemper in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black, Transparent, Veep and Mad Men were also nominated for best performance by an ensemble.
The best actor/actress categories will come down to long-running series vs. the first seasons of fan-favorites, with Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage and Mad Men’s Jon Hamm facing off against Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek and Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk. Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith, House of Cards’ Robin Wright and Homeland’s Claire Danes will try to beat out Emmy-winner Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder).
Newcomers to the awards competition also made a mark, with AMC’s Better Call Saul, USA’s Mr. Robot, and Netflix’s Daredevil and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt all coming in with one nomination each.
Nominations were announced by Mom’s Anna Faris, Avengers’ Anthony Mackie and SAG-AFTRA EVP Gabrielle Carteris. The SAG Awards will be presented on Jan. 30, airing live on TNT and TBS.
Carol Burnett will receive the year’s SAG Lifetime Achievement Award.

Brief Take: Early awards competitions (like SAG or PGA) often signal the winners to Emmys and Golden Globes, which often serve as big promotional opportunities to networks and series, gaining fans who want to find out what all the hype is about.
