After a long wait, Netflix has officially spread its binge-worthy wings across the world.

At CES 2016, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings made the announcement that will profoundly shape TV

According to Hastings, #NetflixEverywhere means those in South Korea, Afghanistan, Angola, Antarctica, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Benin, Bouvet Island, Botswana, Congo, Central African Republic, Congo, Cote d Ivoire, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Western Sahara, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Gambia, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Heard Island, the McDonald Islands, and more can “Netflix and Chill” with such popular Netflix originals as Orange is the New Black, Jessica Jones and company.

“Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network,” said Hastings. “With this launch, consumers around the world—from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo—will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously—no more waiting. With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device.”

In addition to becoming global, Netflix today added Arabic, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese to its stable of languages.

And they aren’t finished.

“From today onwards, we will listen and we will learn, gradually adding more languages, more content and more ways for people to engage with Netflix,” said Hastings. “We’re looking forward to bringing great stories from all over the world to people all over the world.”

Netflix remains elusive to China, though it’s clear Netflix is working at making itself available to the country. The streaming service is similarly not available to Crimea, North Korea and Syria due to government restrictions.

Brief Take: Netflix continues to prove itself as the most ambitious TV service in the industry. The TV industry, like the film industry, has long been a global enterprise, and this cements Netflix as the Marco Polo of the streaming world.
