NBC announced that Will & Grace will return for a 10-episode limited reunion with all four principal actors—Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally, Sean Hayes, and Debra Messing—all on board, alongside series creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.
A less-than-one-minute spot dubbed “The Reunion Is Coming,” shows clips from the groundbreaking original series which ran for eight seasons, from 1998 to 2006, and centered on the friendship between a successful businesswoman and her gay best friend.
“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary—all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture—is coming back where it belongs.”
The cast of Will & Grace previously reunited in 2016 for a mini-episode of the sitcom that was canceled a decade ago, in a special election themed video uploaded to the YouTube channel Vote Honey. In the clip, the principal characters mulled over the 2016 presidential election with Karen’s character announcing she was a Trump supporter.
Will & Grace 10-episode revival is slated to premiere during 2017-18 on NBC.
