NBC Sports Group and Yahoo! Sports are making good on the content partnership they orchestrated back in December. The two companies will launch two multiplatform series this August across TV, web and mobile outlets.

The first series, “Fantasy Football Live—Thursday Night!” provides a weeknight version of Yahoo!’s Sunday web show with the same name. Debuting August 1, “Fantasy Football Live” will air on NBC Sports Network Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., then transition online for a digital-only version at 7:00 p.m. Supplementing the premiere, Yahoo! has recently revamped its fantasy football mobile app with a sleeker interface and better features.

The second series, “SportsDash with Yahoo! Sports,” is an hour-long show airing weekdays at noon on NBCSN, followed by a 15-minute digital version at 1:00 p.m. “SportsDash” will combine Yahoo! Sports Trends, which integrate and analyze real-time signals to determine what stories are resonating at any given moment, with social media data to discuss the day’s topics. It premieres August 19.

Brief Take: Yahoo!’s fantasy football business is hugely successful and its Sports Trends hugely effective. Creating TV programming based on both valuable assets is a wise move.
