NBC is betting big on Neil Patrick Harris this fall, not only giving his new live variety show its own night but its own premiere week.
The network announced its fall schedule on Monday, with most of its fall premieres making their debuts during the week of Sept. 21, and newcomer People Are Talking waiting for Oct. 16 for its bow.
Harris’ variety show, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, was expected to premiere mid-season, but instead NBC has made its debut the first live non-sports event of the season on Sept. 15. It will debut after the season finale of America’s Got Talent in an effort to boost ratings for both.

NBC is stacking its all-important Thursday night line-up with action series, with its Heroes reboot followed by James Spader’s The Blackllist and closing out with The Player, starring Wesley Snipes.
NBC also will wrap Hannibal, with its third season and series finale airing Sept. 3. Showrunner Bryan Fuller is said to be moving to Starz to work on the Neil Gaiman adaptation of American Gods.
