In honor of World Water Day on Friday, March 22, National Geographic Latin America created an album that presented the “sounds of future ocean” using only plastic retrieved from the ocean.

Plastic bags become waves hitting the beach or bubbles gently clinging to the shore; a wayward gum wrapper becomes seagulls’ shrieks.

The network captured all of these sounds and more on a new album, “Sounds of Future Ocean.”
