After just six months on the job, Michael Klein is departing as MTV’s head of original programming, reports Variety.

Klein is leaving just as Chris McCarthy comes on board. McCarthy now leads VH1, Logo and MTV. Sean Atkins, McCarthy’s predecessor, only lasted one year in the job. Klein was one of Atkins’ first major hires

Klein came to MTV after previously working for Conde Nast Entertainment as executive VP of programming and content strategy, digital channels. He’s also done stints at Sundance Channel and TLC, and developed such shows as Man v. Food for Travel Channel.
