NBCUniversal is kicking the promotional machine for Meredith Vieira’s new syndicated talk show into high gear for the next couple of weeks, with the host making the rounds on late night, the Olympics, and the convention circuit.
Vieira is going to be playing a prominent role in NBC’s Olympics coverage from Sochi next month, including as host of the opening ceremonies. She is also set to appear at the NATPE conference in Miami Beach later in January.
“It’s too good a promotional opportunity to pass up,” Valari Staab, the president of NBC’s O&Os group told TVNewsCheck.
Last month, Vieira made an appearance on NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and she also has her YouTube series “Lives with Meredith Vieira” as a platform for building buzz for the show.
TVNewsCheck reported that plans for local promotions are still up in the air, but that Vieira is ready to “do whatever is asked of me.”

Brief Take: As the next big syndicated talk show set to launch, NBCUniversal would be silly to pass up an opportunity like the Olympics to build buzz for “Meredith.”
