Season four of Showtime’s Masters of Sex kicks off in 1968, with stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan taking on new partners professionally, personally and sexually.
The drama features Sheen and Caplan as they portray William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality. The series chronicles their lives and romance as they sparked a sexual revolution. The couple’s research took them from a teaching hospital in St. Louis, to the cover of Time magazine and nearly a dozen appearances on Johnny Carson’s couch.

Showtime debuted poster art and the first teaser for the upcoming season, which kicks off in the “swinging ‘70s,” when bras are burning, sex is everyone, and Masters and Johnson reap the benefits and pressures of the revolution they’ve helped create. The couple starts the season burdened by lies, then slowly switches roles in both their work and the bedroom.
Masters of Sex, also stars Caitlin Fitzgerald and Annaleigh Ashford. The series returns Sunday, September 11 at 10 p.m.
