Fox released official audio of Laverne Cox singing “Sweet Transvestite” as the musical’s infamous Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again remake.

Her version maintains the grittiness of Tim Curry’s 1975 original, with a heavier beat.

Cox (Orange is the New Black), who identifies as transgender and is an activist for transgender rights, told Vanity Fair Fox debated on whether to use the word “transvestite,” which she called “an antiquated term that trans folks certainly don’t use,” and ultimately decided to go with it to pay tribute to the original.

“It’s not appropriate to refer to trans people as a transvestite [today], but it is [used here as] the character in that specific moment in history,” Cox said.

Directed by Kenny Ortega, Rocky Horror airs October 20 at 8 p.m. on Fox, followed by a new soundtrack of the musical set to debut on October 21.
