Bicoastal production company Scholar has added two executive producers: Kate Aspell, who joins the team after working as an industry sales representative, and Ryan McLaughlin, who has been promoted from head of production. Both Aspell and McLaughlin work out of Scholar’s New York studio.

Scholar also recently partnered with talent management collective Miss Smith for East Coast representation and with Friends Electric in the UK.

“I wanted to build a production team of smart, diverse leaders to support that vision. I admire and respect each of their bold ideas, and they are genuinely very nice people. I’m excited for the opportunities they will create for our incredible group of artists,” said Scholar Managing Director and Executive Producer Anne Skopas in a statement.

McLaughlin has been Scholar’s head of production since 2018. He says Scholar’s ability to work across such a wide variety of mediums is in part attributed to “the level of trust and cohesion between the creative and production teams that has built up over time.”
