Alex Godman (James Norton) says he’s “a banker, not a gangster,” but for how long?
“What does it take to corrupt you?” he’s asked in AMC’s trailer for crime thriller McMafia.
AMC describes the series as a “journey through a terrifying labyrinth of international criminals, money launderers, corrupt politicians and ruthless intelligence agencies.”
Norton stars as an English-raised heir to Russian exiles with mafia history, who’s spent his life trying to escape from the shadow of his family’s criminal past. But a death draws him back into that world, where he’s forced to confront his values to protect those he loves.
The series also stars David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum, Good Night, Good Luck), Juliet Rylance (The Knick, Frances Ha), Faye Marsay (Love Nina, Game Of Thrones), Aleksey Serebryakov (The Method, Leviathan) and Mariya Shukshina (Yolki 3, Terrorist Ivanona).
McMafia is based on the Misha Glenny book of the same name. It’s co-created by Hossein Amini (Drive) and James Watkins (The Woman In Black), is co-produced by AMC, BBC and Cuba Pictures, in association with Twickenham Studios, and distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.
McMafia premieres February 26 at 10 p.m.
