The Late Late Show aired its 50th episode with new host James Corden on Thursday night, calling for a celebration for hitting the milestone.

Corden, however, does not do these types of things by half.

Corden and his team honored the milestone in a big way, making an event out of the night with the hashtag #ThanksJames50. CBS also released most of his clips online, which were shared all over Twitter and Facebook Friday.

Introduced by his band leader Reggie Watts as “the late-night veteran,” Corden walked onstage in a full tux to pyrotechnics and applause.

Corden, almost getting fake-choked up over the event, presented a look-back at his hilarious looks and clothing choices over the past 50 shows, acting as if it has been decades and not months since his first show.

Next up was a classic tribute song, sung by Adam Lambert to the tune of “We Are the Champions.”

Corden also presented the best moment on the show chosen by viewers, which was Jason Alexander talking about his ceramics hobby. “I get chills every time I see it,” said Corden.

Corden even presented an In Memoriam segment, introducing in dramatic black and white scores of staffers, none of whom have actually passed away.

And finally, Corden sits down with his guests, Zoo’s James Wolk and the stellar Ian McKellen, who finishes up the episode with a gorilla impersonation because why not?
