Mad Men’s silver fox, John Slattery, stars as Silicon Valley tech guru Paul Le Blanc in Fox’s upcoming event series Next (or neXt, as Steve Jobs’ non-Apple operating system was named), one of the few scripted shows that will debut this fall.

In the show, artificial intelligence that LeBlanc helped create has come alive and is operating with deadly intent. “There’s an AI loose in the world, tailor-made to get rid of us. It’s in cameras, cell phones—anything with a lens, a mike or a sensor,” LeBlanc says in the trailer as he goes about smashing all of those things as they appear around him. “This thing is coming for all of us.”

Besides Slattery, the show also stars Fernanda Andrade, Michael Mosely, Jason Butler Harner, Eve Harlow, Aaron Moten, Gerardo Celsaco, Elizabeth Cappucino and Evan Whitten. The show is created and executive produced by 24’s Manny Coto. It’s executive produced and directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra.

A panel with the cast and producers shot as part of Comic-Con @ Home will be available to watch on YouTube on Sunday, July 26 at 10 am PT.
Next debuts Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9/8 c on Fox.
