A cast of many explores what it means to be descended from royalty in Matthew Weiner’s anthology series The Romanoffs, premiering on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 12.

The show will feature eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descended from Russian royalty. The first episode, “The Violet Hour,” is set in a family’s ancestral home in Paris and stars Aaron Eckhart, Marthe Keller, Inès Melab and Louise Bourgoin. Episode two, tells the story of a couple (Corey Stoll, Kerry Bishe) who have grown disillusioned with their marriage and now are looking elsewhere for romantic satisfaction.

The series’ first two episodes will drop that Friday, with one episode to debut each Friday after that. The Romanoffs will initially be available in more than 200 countries and territories in English, with dubbed foreign versions slated for early next year.

Besides those already mentioned, the enormous and acclaimed cast includes Isabelle Huppert, Diane Lane, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, Jack Huston, Andrew Rannells, Mike Doyle, J.J. Feild, Janet Montgomery, Paul Reiser, Noah Wyle, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Bishe, Jay R. Ferguson, Ben Miles, Mary Kay Place, Griffin Dunne, Cara Buono, Ron Livingston, Jon Tenney, Clea DuVall, Radha Mitchell, Hugh Skinner, Juan Pablo Castañeda, Emily Rudd, Adèle Anderson, Annet Mahendru, Hera Hilmar, Michael O’Neill and David Sutcliffe.

And joining Weiner as executive producers are Semi Chellas, Kriss Turner Towner, Blake McCormick and Kathy Ciric. Andre and Maria Jacquemetton are consulting producers and writers.
