Every Monday, music video and entertainment Web site Vevo, will host “Idol Insider,” a sneak peek of upcoming episodes of Fox’s American Idol.
The new digital series is hosted by Internet sensation Sam Tsui, whose covers, medleys and mash-ups have aggregated more than 500 million hits on YouTube alone. Each week, “Idol Insider” will offer fans behind-the-scenes interviews with judges, mentors and finalists as well as performances from former Idols and special guests.
Tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 25) on “Idol,” the top 13 finalists perform songs with the message, “This is Me.” Votes will be tallied and one performer will be shown the door on Thursday (Feb. 27). “Idol” season 12 winner Candice Glover will perform a medley of “Cried” and “Same Kinda Man” from her debut album “Music Speaks.” English singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, whose songs have been featured on TV shows such as HBO’s “Girls,” also will perform.
“American Idol,” in its 13th season, airs Wednesdays and Thursday nights on Fox. It’s produced by FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment, a division of Core Media Group.
Brief Take: Even a veteran show like “Idol” needs to exploit all platforms to its advantage in this crowded entertainment environment.
