There was some moving and shaking in the TV world this week, with two big stars coming back to primetime and two new online video services launched.

YouTube joined the world subscription video on demand, announcing a new $10-per-month service called YouTube Red, although it will cost $13-per-month for iOS users due to Apple’s 30% “tax” on app developers.The ad-free service launches this month, with exclusive original content for subscribers being added in January.

Meanwhile, CNN launched Great Big Story, a video portal targeting millennials and competing with the likes of Vice and BuzzFeed. Last week, NBCU launched streaming comedy service SeeSo for $3.99 per month.

Two of TV’s biggest stars announced their returns this week, with Chris Rock on board to host the 88th annual Oscars, ten years after he last hosted in 2005. Last year, Neil Patrick Harris did the honors preceded by a less-than-warmly received turn by Seth MacFarlane.

Simon Cowell also is making his way back to primetime as the new host of NBC’s highest-rated summer series, America’s Got Talent. Cowell replaces shock jock Howard Stern, who just finished a four-year stint on the program.
