The Hulu Guru, though sometimes a bit off in his grandiose statements, is just trying to help us all get through fall TV with some food for thought, inspired by television. Anchored by the tagline, “For the Love of TV,” Hulu promotes its fall lineup through the Guru, who evokes wise words from sitcoms, dramas and thrillers alike.
In a series of 30-second spots, the Hulu Guru approaches TV fans in the hair salon, the DMV and the car wash to pass along his wisdom. With his tablet in tow, the Guru uses new and returning TV shows to inspire his bits of advice.
As part of the Guru campaign, Hulu also turns the tables on the recipients of his wise words in a series of brief spots, talking to bystanders after they were lucky enough to come into contact with the one and only Hulu Guru.
The spot below was inspired by Modern Family: “Family is the world’s most powerful four-letter word.” Still not quite accurate, but his words resonate with his car wash employee, Becky:
